Everyone needs salvation because we have all sinned.

“…There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away; they have together become worthless; there is no one who does well, not even one.” Romans 3:10-12, and 23

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23
“All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…” Isaiah 64:6

We have a problem. Our sin separates us from God, leaving us spiritually empty/dead.

It is impossible for us to find peace with God through our own efforts. Anything we try to do to obtain God’s favor or gain salvation is worthless and futile. The price (or consequence) of sin is death. Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus Christ died for our sins. He paid the price for our death.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Salvation then, is a gift from God. He offers the gift through Jesus, his Son. By laying down his life on the cross, Christ took our place and paid the ultimate price, the penalty for our sin — death. Jesus is our only way to God. Romans 5:8

We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved … For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9-10, and 13

Salvation then, is a gift from God. He offers the gift through Jesus, his Son. By laying down his life on the cross, Christ took our place and paid the ultimate price, the penalty for our sin — death. Jesus is our only way to God.

Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

Satan will continue to condemn me but I must remember that I am a new person in Christ Jesus. The guilt of the past is gone and every sin has been forgotten and parted as far as the East is from the West and in the bottomless sea. Never will it be remembered against me again. Satan will try to condemn and cause guilt. Remember, that your past guilt is gone. All your sins are forgiven: I John 1:9 The devil is the father of lies.  Don’t believe him.

When the Holy Spirit convicts of sins, he does not condemn or dis-empower you. At this point, you ask forgiveness for any sins you may have done since His last work of grace in you. Keep your accounts short. When you go astray, confess and accept God’s forgiveness and get back in the spiritual race that you have begun.

Review:

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that the times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”  Acts 3:19

1)  Repent literally means “to have a change of mind that results in a change of action.” To repent, then, means to admit you are a sinner. You change your mind to agree with God that you are a sinner. The resulting “change in action” is, of course, the turning away from sin.

 2) Believe Jesus Christ died on the cross to save you from your sins and give you eternal life. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” Believing in Jesus is also a part of repenting but believing that there is a God is not enough. “The devils believe and tremble.”  You must act on your beliefs.

3) Come to him by faith. In John 14:6 Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Faith in Jesus Christ is a change of mind that results in a change of action—coming to him you must believe that He is and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

4)You may pray a simple prayer to God.
Lord Jesus, I am sorry that I have disobeyed your way. (It helps to mention the specific sins that you can remember.) If you do this, He will forgive you of all your sins, even these done by commission or omission. I want to turn away from my sin and begin a new life with you. From this time on, I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. I accept the infilling of the Holy Spirit of God who has promised to “lead me into all truth.”, and I fully accept your pardon that was promised to me. Empower me to live a Godly life from day to day. Heaven is now my home and I will prioritize my life to put Christ first. My first act of obedience is to be baptized as an outward evidence of the internal dealt and resurrection  identifying with Christ.
